Teen charged in burglary at Elgin business

A 14-year-old boy was charged with burglary and felony criminal damage to property after someone saw him break into an Elgin business, take items and ride away on a bicycle, officials said.

A witness saw someone break the entry door window at a business on the 100 block East Chicago Street about 12:30 a.m. Tuesday, according to a news release from the Elgin Police Department.

When the teen was later arrested, he still had the items with him, police said.
