Hoffman Estates receives sustainability award

Mayor Bill McLeod accepted the village's Emerald Award at the U.S. Green Building Council-Illinois Chapter's annual event, Limelight, held at the Museum of Broadcast Communications.

The Emerald Awards program is a showcase of the best and brightest contributors to a more sustainable built environment by recognizing outstanding individuals, organizations, projects, and technologies implemented across Illinois.

Ashley Monroe, assistant to the village manager, expressed thanks to the efforts of village staff, the Hoffman Estates Sustainability Commission, and the support of the Hoffman Estates village board, as she presented the Emerald Award to Mayor McLeod and the board of trustees during the May 27 Hoffman Estates village board meeting.
