Buffalo Grove Park District Raupp Museum receives state grant

Governor Pat Quinn announced last Saturday that the Buffalo Grove Park District's Raupp Museum will be receiving a $51,000 grant from the Illinois Public Museums Capital Grant Program. The money will be used to add a gas station and a 1937 Ford truck to the Raupp Museum's Crossroads Gallery.

The Raupp Museum was one of only two museums in Lake County and 47 museums statewide to receive one of these grants.

The total cost of the project is approximately $68,300. Once the project goes out to bid, it should take approximately four months to complete. Construction will take place primarily off site, shipped to the museum, and then installed. This will allow the museum to have very little downtime in the exhibit space, making the Crossroads Gallery available to the many school groups that visit the Raupp Museum at that time of year.

"We are thrilled to be receiving this grant that will allow the park district to further improve what is already one of the best local museums in Illinois," said Buffalo Grove Park District Executive Director Dan Schimmel. He added, "We are very proud to provide the community with such a high quality depiction of Buffalo Grove's history; and, this grant will help us improve upon how we translate that history to the residents and school groups that visit the Raupp Museum."

The Raupp Museum is at 901 Dunham Ave., in Buffalo Grove. For information on the Raupp Museum, visit their bgmuseum.org or call (847) 459-2318.
