Register for fifth annual Faith Christian Academy summer volleyball camp

Whether your son or daughter is new to volleyball or wants to take their skills to the next level, Faith Christian Academy's fifth annual summer volleyball camp is ready to help them learn, grow and soar.

The FCA volleyball camp runs from 4 to 6 p.m. on Monday, Aug. 4 through Thursday, Aug. 7.

The camp is open for girls and boys entering fourth to eighth grade this fall at any west suburban school or homeschool. The camp is operated by Faith Christian head volleyball coach Jeff Smith. Faith's girls volleyball program has amassed a record of 434 wins and 114 losses in 10 seasons, including a school-record 39 victories and a seventh-place finish at the LSA state tournament in 2013. Faith started a boys volleyball program in 2014.

Highlighting this year's camp will be a special guest coach, Brittany Smith, head coach of the Wheaton College women's volleyball team. Smith spent eight seasons as volleyball coach at Taylor University before taking over at Wheaton College in 2013, leading the Thunder to a 24-12 record and the Wheaton Invitational championship in her first year at the helm. In her time at Taylor, Brittany compiled a record of 240-94 and guided the Trojans to three consecutive appearances in the NAIA National Tournament along with five straight conference titles. She was named Mid-East Region Coach of the Year by the American Volleyball Coaches Association in 2010.

Campers will be divided into groups by skill and playing level, so experienced players will receive more sophisticated skill training geared to their needs while younger players will be taught the basics of the sport.
