10th annual BeachFest promises a full menu of fun and entertainment
The 10th annual BeachFest will be June 20-22 at the Cultural & Civic Center in Round Lake Beach with a full lineup of music and a variety of activities.
Music abounds at the festival this year from country to rock, Irish, blues, Hispanic, Latin, African, and more. Last year, two new stages were added and will again be in use all weekend for cultural and children's entertainment.
The center and festival grounds are at 2007 Civic Center Way, off Hook Drive, behind Regal Cinemas on Rollins Road and behind Home Depot on Route 83.
The kick off is Thursday at 6:30 p.m. with the annual Miss Round Lake Pageant in the banquet room at the center.
On Friday, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m., country music fans will enjoy the sounds of Mandy Z & Rural Route One, fresh off a Nashville engagement, followed from 8 to 11 p.m. by Bella Cain, just back from playing in Austin, Texas.
On Saturday, Transformation (5 to 7 p.m.), Judas Beast (6 to 8 p.m.) and the Journey tribute band Infinity (8 to 11 p.m.) will perform for the rock fans in attendance. Sunday will feature a variety of ethnic music, with an appearance by Chicago Banda Eskandalloza from 5 to 6 p.m.
Family and children's entertainment is always an important part of the festival, and this year is no different.
The festivities begin at 3 p.m. Friday with the Hawaiian Dancers on the main stage. Performances and activities are scheduled on the Children's Entertainment Stage and area until 8 p.m. Friday, Saturday and Sunday.
In addition to a full carnival, there will be an exotic petting zoo with a variety of reptiles to see up close.
Other activities for all ages include a crafters market Saturday and Sunday and a classic car and motorcycle show Saturday, with Sunday's Lowrider show for auto enthusiasts.
Ethnic and festival foods and beverages will be available for purchase throughout the weekend.
