Geneva's annual Swedish Days, a Midsommar Festival, started Tuesday and will dominate downtown until Sunday.
Many of Tuesday's events centered around kids, such as the Fair on the Square with activities including free face painting and balloon art and performances by Istvan & His Imaginary Band and The Rope Warrior.
Geneva mom Jessica Naylor said her kids were having a great time.
"They love Swedish Days," Naylor said of her four-year-old twins Max and his sister Charlie. "They put their Viking hats and beards on at nine this morning and won't take them off. We'll be here all week."
Indeed, the twins were among several young children who danced and jumped in front of the Third Street stage for the duration of the 45-minute opening act. Wednesday's highlights on the festival's Central Stage include the Swedish American Children's Choir at 5:30 p.m., the semifinals of Geneva's Got Talent at 6:30 p.m. and The New Invaders performing a rock and roll tribute to the 1960s at 8 p.m.
