Dogs do a lot more than fetch at Fremont library show

Kids cheered as dogs jumped through hoops and performed tricks Monday as Robin Bengston of Robin's Dog Stars brought her dogs to Fremont Public Library in Mundelein.

Starlight, a golden retriever, Cedar, a border collie, and Slater. a black Labrador retriever, were the stars of the show.

Some of the tricks included jumping through nine hoops, answering the telephone and counting by barking.

Bengston, a native of Lake Villa, has been training dogs since 1990.

This is the first of series of six Monday night programs called Best in Show Mondays at the library. The shows coincide with the libraries summer reading program.
