Osterman overpowers Bandits for 6-1 win

Behind another standout pitching performance by Cat Osterman, the USSSA Pride claimed a 6-1 victory over the Chicago Bandits on Sunday at the Ballpark in Rosemont.

Osterman tossed a complete game, giving up one run on five hits with nine strikeouts to earn her fourth win of the season. For the Bandits, Michelle Gascoigne went 5⅔ innings (four runs on seven hits with three strike outs).

Megan Wiggins gave the Bandits a lead in the bottom of the third with a solo blast to the right field bleachers, but the Pride tied the game in the fourth and took the lead in the fifth when Madison Shipman hit a solo home run.

The Pride added two insurance runs in the sixth and two in the seventh to close out the scoring.

The two teams will meet at 7:05 p.m. Monday in Rosemont and close out their four-game series on Tuesday.
