Nature at Cantigny sweet backdrop for art show

Cantigny Park, known for its beautiful gardens, is embracing art on a more human scale this weekend.

Nearly 80 artists are displaying paintings, photography, sculptures and jewelry at the Wheaton park during the Art in Bloom festival.

The quality is better than what you'll find at large festivals, said Eric Melloy of Cantigny.

"This is quality over quantity," she said Saturday.

People can walk around and see the sites and come buy some art.

Warrenville artist Peter Thaddeus likes the way his art mirrors the colors of the tropics in the natural setting of Cantigny.

Visitors agree. "It's so beautiful here," said Carol Veto of South Barrington.

The Art in Bloom festival continues Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the park.
