• Six men were arrested Thursday after a joint undercover operation by Elgin police and the Illinois State Police and charged with solicitation of a sexual act, a class A misdemeanor, police said. Charged were: Gregorio Contreras, 41, 200 block of Cherry Street, Elgin; Guadalupe Molina, 46, 200 block of Tee Lane, Carpentersville; Jose Flores, 49, 900 block of Larkin Avenue, Elgin; Marcus D. Carlisle, 42, 600 block of East Chicago Street, Elgin; Erick R. Garcia, 41, 700 block of Bluff City Boulevard, Elgin; and Luis V. Sotelo, 39, 400 block of Orchard Street, Elgin. The operation was in response to complaints of prostitution in the area of Grove Avenue and National Street in Elgin. All six men were given court dates in Elgin Branch Court, and their vehicles were towed under a local ordinance that carries a $1,000 fine.


• Dale Sowers, 52, of the 900 block of Stewart Avenue, Elgin, was arrested Thursday on several drug charges after police pulled him over on a search warrant, according to a police report. Police found .2 grams of heroin on Sowers, $266 in denominations consistent with drug sales and a crack pipe with burned residue. Sowers was charged with manufacture/delivery of a controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance and unlawful possession of drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $300,000 and he is due in court Wednesday at the Kane County Judicial Center.


• Dyllon E. Mueller, 23, of the 100 block of South Lincoln Avenue, Carpentersville, was charged with public intoxication at 12:22 a.m. June 1 in the 0-99 block of South Second Street, according to a police report.
