Join Elgin Kiwanis for weekly meeting

Topical programs are fixtures of the weekly meetings of the Kiwanis Club of Elgin.

On June 17, the Shared Harvest Food Coop will be featured. Carol Rauschenberger will update members on this cooperatively owned grocery story that will link consumers to affordable, healthy, locally-produced food.

On June 24, Rose Martinez, Elgin's newest city council member, will introduce herself to club members.

The Kiwanis Club of Elgin, now in its 94th year, received its charter March 9, 1920, and serves the Kiwanis International mission to change the world one child at a time, one community at a time. In that time, the Elgin Noon Club donated more than $1 million to organizations in Elgin and South Elgin.

Anyone interested in joining the club is invited to attend a weekly lunch meeting at noon Tuesdays at The Hickory Stick Bar & Grille Restaurant, 875 Sports Way, Elgin, at the Highlands golf course.

For information, call Karen Maki, (847) 429-5976.
