Elgin

• Anthony S. Quezada, 23, of the 1500 block of Maple Lane, Elgin, was charged Monday with retail theft, according to court records. He is accused of taking merchandise valued at less than $300 from Wal-Mart on the 1100 block of South Randall Road and then trying return it. His bail was set at $50,000 in Kane County bond court, and his next court date is June 19.

• Michael A. Martinez, 26, of the 300 block of North Washington Street, Carpentersville, was charged Tuesday with harassment and disorderly conduct, according to court records. On June 1, he threatened to shoot a person in the face. He also threatened that person's mother via electronic communication that he would "cut her throat." His bail was set at $100,000 in Kane County bond court, and his next court date is June 19.

• Troy E. Bradford, 23, of the 100 block of South Center Street, South Elgin, was charged Tuesday with retail theft, according to court records. He is accused of taking two DVDs, valued at $22.92, from Wal-Mart on the 1100 block of South Randall Road in Elgin. Bradford was previously convicted of a theft-related offense. His bail was set at $10,000 in Kane County bond court, and his next court date is June 18.

• Jose A. Valdes, 18, of the 100 block of Cordova Road, Carpentersville, was charged Tuesday with possession of a controlled substance and retail theft, according to police and court records. He is accused of taking merchandise, valued at less than $300, from Wal-Mart on the 600 block of Dundee Avenue in East Dundee. He also possessed less than 15 grams of a substance containing cocaine. His bail was set at $5,000 in Kane County bond court, and his next court date is June 25.
