Suburban chorus headed to international competition makes stop at Cougars game

Sweet Adelines International medaling chorus, the Choral-Aires Chorus, will kick off the Kane County Cougars game (Geneva) against the Wisconsin TimberRattlers with the national anthem at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24.

The Elmhurst-based chorus invites all of Chicagoland to root for the home team, while also getting a tease of the chorus' sound, which recently earned the chorus a regional championship and eighth place worldwide.

"Our members love performing before a hometown crowd. After a recent win at regional contest, we are so excited to honor our country and our home team by singing our national anthem before this game," says chorus president Bev Hoffmeister.

Community members are invited to support the Choral-Aires' fundraising efforts by purchasing game tickets through the Chorus. Tickets for the 6:30 p.m. game are $10 and can be purchased by emailing Shelia at mssitt@comcast.net.

Sweet Adelines International is a worldwide women's singing organization committed to advancing the musical art form of barbershop harmony through education, competition and performance. With more than 23,000 members, Sweet Adelines International brings harmony and music education to women's lives, schools and communities across the world.

More than 100 women from Illinois and Wisconsin sing tight harmonies a cappella (without instrumentation) with the Choral-Aires Chorus, the 2014 Midwest Harmony Region 3 Champion, and earned eighth place in the world at the 2013 Sweet Adelines International contest. This program is partially supported by a grant from the Illinois Arts Council, a state agency. More information about the Chorus can be found at their website, choral-aires.com.
