Volunteers sought for Des Plaines parks group
The Des Plaines Park District is recruiting new members for the Friends of the Parks, a volunteer organization that promotes cultural and recreational events and provides scholarships.
Being a members of the organization requires a commitment of about 30 volunteer hours per year, park district officials say. Meetings are held the first Monday of the month, where members plan and coordinate annual fundraising events. The group is also involved in an annual fishing derby and Halloween house decorating contest.
