Cougars win marathon game in 15th
The Kane County Cougars rallied with 3 runs in the 15th inning and needed two solid innings of relief pitching from one of their catchers to claim a 7-4 victory over the Cedar Rapids Kernals on Sunday at Perfect Game Field.
After three scoreless frames by Cougars reliever Jasvir Rakkar, catcher Ben Carhart took the mound and surrendered only two walks in tw innings of work for the win.
With two runners on in the 15th, first baseman Jacob Rogers connected on a two-run triple for the Cougars (29-20, 74-45). Cael Brockmeyer drove in Rogers with a double to complete the scoring over the Kernels (28-21, 59-60).
Shawon Dunston Jr. had a homer in the second inning off rehabbing pitcher Ricky Nolasco. The Cougars scored three runs against the Minnesota Twins veteran.
