St. Michael Parish School Hires New Principal

June 6, 2014 - Wheaton, Illinois - Father Dan Hoehn has appointed Mrs. Lisa Brown as the new Principal of St. Michael Parish School, effective July 1.

"After an extensive search over the last few months, I decided to accept the Principal Search Team's unanimous recommendation to hire Mrs. Brown. She differentiated herself with the experience, talent and enthusiasm necessary to lead St. Michael Parish School. Grounded in the Catholic faith, she also possesses a genuine love for working with young people and teachers," stated Father Dan.

A native of Chicago, Mrs. Brown attended Alvernia Catholic High School. She holds a Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education and Early Childhood Education from Northeastern Illinois University as well as a Masters in Educational School Leadership from Olivet Nazarene University. Mrs. Brown is a member of the National Catholic Educational Association, and the Association for Supervision and Curriculum Development.

Since 1985, Mrs. Brown has been focused on education. She started as a 3rd grade teacher at Transfiguration of our Lord School in Chicago. She then taught at Community Unit School District 303 in St. Charles, St. Rita of Cascia School in Aurora, and St. Joan of Arc School in Lisle. In 2012, after eight years of teaching 3rd grade at St. Joan of Arc, Mrs. Brown was promoted to her current position of Assistant Principal.

Mrs. Brown is also a member of the Diocese of Joliet Curriculum Advisory Board. Additionally, she works as an AdvancEd Team Leader, assisting Diocese schools with the national accreditation process. Since 2013, she has been a Standards Based Grading Facilitator and a Professional Learning Communities Facilitator, conducting workshops and providing development to teachers.

"The dedication to educational excellence, commitment to the Catholic faith and supportive community were evident as I became more familiar with the school. I look forward to leading the continued development of an exceptional school."

St. Michael Parish School was founded in 1879, and is Wheaton's only Catholic elementary school. St. Michael Parish School is located on the same property as St. Michael Church. We host students from Wheaton, Winfield, Carol Stream, Lisle, Glen Ellyn, West Chicago, and Warrenville beginning in pre-school through 8th grade.
