Boomers shut down Greys, sweep series

Behind a three-hit shutout by starting pitcher Seth Webster, the Schaumburg Boomers earned a 1-0 victory over the Frontier Greys on Thursday night to sweep the series at Boomers Stadium.

Webster set the tone from the outset, striking out the first four hitters of the game and finishing with eight strikeouts to earn his first win of the Frontier League season.

The Boomers (9-9) scored their lone run scored in the bottom of the sixth when Jordan Dean legged out double, stole third, and scored on a Mark Nelson sacrifice fly.

Hunter Ackerman recorded a strikeout to end the game, registering his first save for the Boomers.

The Southern Illinois Miners visit Boomers Stadium for a three-game series starting Friday night, which will feature Superhero night and postgame fireworks.
