Trucker comes forward after video shows near miss with Minn. school bus

HAWICK, Minn. - The Minnesota State Patrol says the semi driver who narrowly missed a girl getting on a school bus in central Minnesota has come forward.

The driver of the bus driver had its lights flashing and stop arm extended when the semi whizzed by on the right. Thirteen-year-old Alexis Schwartz says her heart was pounding and her hands were shaking because the semi was so close to her.

The State Patrol posted a video from the bus on YouTube following the near miss Friday on Highway 23 between New London and Paynesville. The Star Tribune reports the State Patrol said late Tuesday that the semi driver has contacted them about the incident.

The patrol says passing a school bus with its arm extended is a gross misdemeanor.
