Boomers' bats boom big-time

The Schaumburg Boomers racked up season highs of 9 runs and 13 hits in a 9-6 victory over the Frontier Greys, halting a four game slide in the opener of a six-game homestand Tuesday.

The Boomers (7-9) scored 5 runs on 5 hits in the first inning, Ryan McChesney (3 RBI) opened the scoring with a 2-run double. Denver Chavez, Brian McConkey (3 hits) and Ty Nelson had RBI. The Boomers' Mark Nelson drilled his first pro homer in the eighth.

Boomers starter and winner Anthony Smith worked 6 innings, and Dexter Price earned his fourth save.

The series continues today at 6:30 p.m. when the Boomers send left-hander Danny Jimenez (1-1, 6.32 ERA) against righty Kyle Blair (0-1, 5.14).
