Pavel V. Logvin of Bloomingdale first stumbled upon child pornography by accident in 2000, prosecutors said, and eventually his curiosity got the better of him and it became an addiction.

By 2004, prosecutors said, Logvin admitted to becoming a "download freak."

Logvin, 49, of the 400 block of Vinings Drive, pleaded guilty Tuesday to one of 22 aggravated child pornography counts against him. Prosecutors dropped 21 other counts in exchange for his guilty plea.

Judge Robert Kleeman sentenced Logvin to two years of sex offender probation, 210 days of work-release jail time, a lifetime of sex-offender registration and more than $2,000 in fines.

Assistant State's Attorney Ken Tatarelis said Logvin was caught after a joint investigation launched in January 2013 by the Bloomingdale and Glendale Heights police departments in conjunction with the Illinois Attorney General's High-Tech Crimes Bureau.

Tatarelis said Logvin possessed pornographic photos and videos of children and admitted to preferring images of children younger than 13.

"With age, he said his urges have weakened," Tatarelis said. "But he is still addicted to child pornography."

If he were to have been convicted on all counts, Kleeman told Logvin he faced a maximum of 28 years in prison.

Logvin will report to DuPage County jail on Monday to begin serving his work-release sentence. During the day he will report to his Deerfield job as a computer technician. A future hearing, however, will determine whether he will be allowed to access the Internet to perform his work functions.
