Police: Federal drug investigation leads to Naperville man

A federal task force investigating drug trafficking led Naperville police to a 20-year-old man who now is accused of having more than 600 Xanax pills and planning to sell them, authorities said Tuesday.

Brian Patrick Noone of the 4100 block of Royal Mews Circle in Naperville was arrested about 7:10 p.m. Friday when the Naperville Police Department's Special Operations Group and the U.S. Postal Inspector's Office searched his home, police said.

A federal investigation that began May 16 eventually led law enforcement personnel from the Drug Enforcement Administration, the FBI, the Department of Homeland Security and the Postal Inspector's Office to believe there might be "an illegal drug trafficking distribution point in Naperville," police said in a news release.

Naperville's Special Operations Group and the Postal Inspector's Office investigated further and said they found Noone was illegally obtaining the pills through the mail and then selling the drugs to others. That finding led to the May 30 search that turned up more than 600 pills, or 190 grams, of Xanax, police said.

Noone was charged in Will County court with one felony count of unlawful possession of a controlled substance with the intent to deliver, police said.

He pleaded not guilty and was released on $2,000 bond, according to Will County court records. Noone is scheduled to be in court for a preliminary hearing June 23.

Court records show this is the second time Noone has faced charges in Will County. In 2012, he was charged with misdemeanor possession of drug paraphernalia, and records show he paid a fine of $750.
