The Peoples' Bank Returns as Sponsor of Sounds of Summer Concerts

With the summer season officially underway, the Village of Arlington Heights has unveiled the line-up for the 2014 Sounds of Summer Concert series. As they have been for the past two summers, the twice-weekly free concerts will be sponsored by The Peoples' Bank of Arlington Heights.

"The Sounds of Summer concerts are one of the premiere family events in the community," said Peoples' Bank President Frank Appleby. "The Village does a great job putting everything together and we are thrilled to return as the main sponsor of the shows." The concerts take place most Thursday and Friday nights at Harmony Park in the center of the downtown area, and just steps away from the bank's flagship location. "We have tried to be an integral part of the downtown since we arrived in 1999," said Appleby. "We know how much these concerts mean to our neighbors and the entire community, so we are pleased to do our part to make them a reality."

The series kicks off June 5th with the annual appearance of the Saint Viator Jazz Band at 7:00 p.m. The following night brings a popular Eagles tribute band Heartache Tonight to the stage. Concerts will take place every Thursday and Friday with the exception of July 3rd, 4th and 25th. Appleby said the bank plans to partner with Dahme Plumbing to provide free popcorn at some of the concerts as well.

This summer marks the third consecutive year that the bank has sponsored the concerts. Harmony Park is located at the corner of Vail and Campbell and allows for several hundred guests to bring chairs and blankets for the free shows.

In addition to the Sounds of Summer, The Peoples' Bank will be sponsoring a number of other family events in the community this summer. "We recently signed on to support Gina's Gallop for the first time and have renewed our sponsorship for Rockin' with the Cops, the Frontier Days Stampede, the Mane Event, as well as the Park District's Picnic in the Park and National Night Out events," said Appleby. "Summer in downtown Arlington Heights is very vibrant and active and we look forward to seeing families enjoying themselves at these great events."
