Republican candidate for governor Bruce Rauner says getting a question about legislative term limits on the November ballot is "a major step" in his effort to "shake up Springfield."
Rauner is chairman of the Committee for Legislative Reform and Term Limits. The group collected signatures to put a question on the ballot asking if legislators should be limited to serving eight years. The proposal would also change the size of the legislature and make it harder for lawmakers to override a governor's veto.

Illinois State Board of Elections Director Rupert Borgsmiller said Monday the group appears to have enough valid signatures, but a final decision will come June 17.
Rauner says term limits could help root out corruption in state government.
The ballot question still faces a legal challenge.
