Kaneland announces addition of Director of Educational Services 6-12

The Kaneland Unit District 302 board of education is pleased to announce the appointment of Michael Purcell as Director of Educational Services 6-12 beginning July 1, 2014.

Purcell was selected from a pool of 29 applicants.

He is currently serving in Oswego District 308 as assistant director of secondary education.

Prior to his position in District 308, Purcell served as Assistant Principal and Director of Summer Learning in Naperville District 203, after starting his career in education as a high school math teacher. He completed his certification and administrative degree at North Central College.

Prior to entering the field of education, Purcell studied business, receiving a master in business administration from Loyola University. He worked in business management for several years before pursuing his passion for teaching.

Purcell brings a wealth of experiences to the position of Director of Educational Services 6-12 for the Kaneland schools.

Purcell emerged as the top candidate at the end of a competitive interview process with a qualified field of candidates. He was selected for a number of excellent reasons including his administrative experience, student focus, curriculum and leadership experience, and his vision for how the Department of Educational Services can enhance learning for students.

Purcell will begin his contract at a salary of $102,500 plus benefits, and will assume his position as Kaneland's Director of Educational Services 6-12 on July 1, 2014.
