Ozzie's Home Run, Walk 5K steps off on Saturday

The Kane County Cougars organization will host Ozzie's Home Run and Walk 5K at 8 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark, 34W002 Cherry Lane, Geneva.

Registration is now open for the event at kccougars.com and racetime.info.

The event will start and finish on the field at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark, with the finish line at home plate.

Participants will be seen on the stadium's videoboard through a live-feed camera and can receive a high-five from Ozzie T. Cougar on the final stretch of the race inside the ballpark.

Families with children are encouraged to participate as strollers are permitted and there is a special discounted rate for participants between 5 and 18 years old.

Businesses interested in race sponsorship opportunities are encouraged to send e-mail to ozzie@kanecountycougars.com.

Registration is $25 for adults and $12 for those age 5 to 18.

A portion of race proceeds will be donated to the Ozzie's Scholars Reading Scholarship Program.
