Kaveney receives baseball honors

Ryan Kaveney, a sophomore pitcher at Beloit College (2012 Cary-Grove grad) earned First Team All-Midwest Conference (MWC) North Division honors after finishing the season 3-3 with a 1.84 ERA in 63.2 innings pitched.

He struck out 72 while walking just 13.

His 72 strikeouts were the second-most in a season in Beloit history while his ERA was the third-lowest in history. He had three double-digit strikeout games, including 14 against St. Norbert on April 19 at The Ballpark at Strong Stadium, which tied the schools all-time mark.

He led the MWC in strikeouts, innings pitched, runs allowed, and ERA.

Along with first team all conference honors, Kaveney was named to the d3baseball.com All-Central Region Third Team and the All-Central Region Third Team by the American Baseball Coaches Association.

Kaveney's Beloit College team went 15-18 overall, including 6-10 in the MWC for third place in the North Division.
