Michigan man's model collection going to auction

AUBURN HILLS, Mich. - A Detroit-area businessman's collection of model trains and more is going up for auction.

The Glenn Reid Museum Collection of Mechanical Models is to be auctioned off on Thursday.

Reid's collection started with a train set and grew to include model steam engines, planes, ships, traction engines and automobiles.

The highlight of the auction is a fully-equipped, 24-foot Ahrens-Fox N-S-4 fire truck, which originally was ordered in 1928 by a fire department in Maine.

Reid owned an auto supply business in Auburn Hills.

The auction is being held by Heritage Auctions out of Dallas. The items are being sold to benefit the Reid Family Foundation.
