Boomers grab 4th straight win

After dropping their first 4 decisions, the Schaumburg Boomers have roared back with 4 straight wins, the latest a 3-2 triumph over the visiting Florence Freedom in Frontier League action Saturday in Schaumburg.

The Boomers scored all 3 runs in the bottom of the fourth. Denver Chavez (2 hits), activated from injured reserve before the game, drove home Ben Kline with an RBI single. A wild pitch allowed Brian McConkey to score and Michael Valadez delivered an RBI with a sacrifice fly.

The Boomers' Danny Jimenez posted the longest start of the season, working 6⅓ innings and allowed 2 runs with 5 strikeouts. Dexter Price earned his third save in as many chances.

The Boomers (4-4) conclude their opening weekend series today at 6:30 p.m. they send right-hander Seth Webster (0-1, 3.60 ERA) against lefty Peter Gehle (0-0, 4.50).
