Holmstad to host Senior Wellness Fair May 28

On Wednesday, May 28, The Holmstad, 700 W. Fabyan Parkway in Batavia, will sponsor an all-day Senior Wellness Fair from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Exhibitors will include organizations, businesses and individuals who serve seniors. There will be free health screenings, produce from a local farmers market available for purchase, free food samples, raffles, giveaways and more. Attendees are encouraged to bring a nonperishable food item to donate to the Batavia Interfaith Food Pantry.

From 10 to 11 a.m., Lynda Tourloukis will speak on "The Difference between Humor, Laughter & Joy." She is certified as a laughter yoga coach and trainer by the International School of Laughter Yoga, Mumbai, India. Healthy cooking shows with Mark Low, Holmstad executive chef, will be held every 15 minutes from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. During 19 years as a chef with Princess Cruises, he visited 56 countries and created a vast repertoire of recipes. See and sample some of his options for healthy cooking. There will be lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

From 1 to 2 p.m., hear Dr. Len Lecci speak on "Be Kind to Your Mind." He is the director of clinical services for MARS Memory Health Network and professor of psychology at University of North Carolina-Wilmington. He will share the latest information on how diet, physical and mental exercise, and early intervention can influence the impact of memory loss. All events are free.
