Bestselling Author Lily Koppel to Visit Lake Villa District Library

Koppel will read from The Astronaut Wives Club and share her experiences of writing the book. Sale and signing, courtesy of Lake Forest Book Store, will follow the program. Refreshments will be served.

The bestselling book tells the story of the young wives of America's Mercury Seven astronauts. Overnight, these women were transformed from military spouses into American royalty. They had tea with Jackie Kennedy, appeared on the cover of Life magazine, and quickly grew into fashion icons. Together they formed the Astronaut Wives Club and met regularly to provide support and friendship.

As their celebrity rose-and as divorce and tragic death began to touch their lives-they continued to rally together, and have remained friends for more than 50 years.

The Astronaut Wives Club is the featured title of the Lake Villa District Library's summer reading program "The Law of Leisure" where patrons are invited to prove the hypothesis that reading 20 minutes a day will improve your well-being. Copies of the book, purchased by the Friends of Lake Villa District Library, will be available for check out after Koppel's visit.
