Battery charges dismissed against Niles man in 2012 attack

A Cook County judge dismissed aggravated battery and mob action charges against a Niles man who had been implicated in a 2012 Maine Township beating.

The charges against Rene Garibay, 20, were dismissed this week, court records show.

Cook County sheriff's police arrested Garibay and Najeeb Ahmad, 26, in August, after a 37-year-old Skokie man said they attacked him in 2012. Charges against Ahmad, also of Niles, are still pending.
