Baseball / Lake County roundup

Brian Malisheski belted a 2-run walk-off homer in the bottom of the eighth inning, lifting Wauconda's baseball team to 9-7 win over Lake Forest on Thursday.

Sophomore Jake Grobelny also homered for Wauconda (10-18). The Bulldogs got 2 hits apiece from Grobelny, Joey Schaer and Tyler Meyer, who tripled. Kyle Harmon and Roy Nelson doubled.

Jack Weller picked up the win in relief.

Grayslake Central 7, Zion-Benton 3: Justin Guryn, Russel Lundius, Ben Fitzgerald and Brett Whalen combined to allow only 4 hits while striking out 11 in the nonconference game.

Guryn picked up his seventh win. Offensively for Grayslake Central (23-10), Jay Hoffmann had 2 hits, 2 RBI and scored 2 runs. Kyle Clark (RBI) and Sam Nozicka had 2 hits apiece as well for the Rams.

Lake Zurich 4, Maine West 3: The Bears scored 3 runs in the bottom of the sixth to pull out the nonconference game.

Nick Sanders was 2-for-3 for Lake Zurich.
