Normoyle leads Boomers to first win of season

MARION — The Schaumburg Boomers poured across 4 runs in the eighth inning en route to their first victory of the season, a 5-2 win over the Southern Illinois Miners on Wednesday night.

With two outs in the eighth, pinch hitter Ryan Normoyle doubled with the bases loaded to drive in 3 runs and give the Boomers a 4-2 lead. Alexi Colon followed with a triple to provide insurance. Clark Labitan earned the win in relief and Dexter Price recorded his first save.

The Boomers' Rey Rodriguez lasted 4 innings in his pro debut, allowing 2 runs on 6 hits with 2 walks and 2 strikeouts.

The teams conclude their series today 7:05 p.m. Boomers right-hander Cal Bowling (0-1, 7.20) will make his second start and will be opposed by righty Miguel Ramirez (0-0, 0.00).
