Military funeral held for former Barrington woman killed in Kosovo
KIEL, Wis. - A funeral service with military honors has been held for a U.S. Army sergeant and former Barrington resident killed in Kosovo.
Family and friends of Heidi Ruh gathered Monday evening at a church in Kiel to memorialize the 32-year-old mother of two.
The Army says Ruh was fatally shot May 9 on base in Kosovo. Her death remains under investigation. The Army says there's no evidence of hostile gunfire. It has not ruled out foul play.
Ruh joined the military in 2003 as a biomedical equipment specialist. WLUK-TV says she volunteered to go to Kosovo in February. Ruh most recently lived in Barrington.
