Mayor Rahm Emanuel is taking on the minimum wage issue in Chicago.

The mayor on Tuesday said he has formed a Minimum Wage Working Group that includes community, labor and business leaders. He wants members to come up with a plan to increase the minimum wage in Chicago.

Emanuel's office says a final report is due in 45 days and should include recommended wage increases for minimum wage workers and employees who earn tips.

Supporters say raising the minimum wage would stimulate the economy by putting more cash in workers' pockets. But opponents say hiking the minimum wage will force companies to lay off workers, adding to Illinois' already high unemployment.
