Illinois starts effort against human trafficking

A new effort is underway in Illinois to raise awareness of human trafficking of children.

Federal, state and local agencies announced the "Our Children Are Not for Sale" campaign on Tuesday. Officials want the public to notify law enforcement if they believe a child is the victim of human trafficking.

Illinois' Department of Children and Family Services says residents can call its Child Abuse and Neglect Hotline at (800) 25-ABUSE.

Authorities also will distribute educational brochures.
