Marengo crash critically injures two

A female driver and a male passenger were airlifted in critical condition to Rockford hospitals after a one-vehicle, rollover crash Sunday afternoon on Deerpass Road in Marengo, authorities said.

Two other passengers, a man and a boy, were taken to Centegra Hospital in Woodstock with minor to moderate injuries, Marengo Fire Protection District Lt. Noel Gaines said. The ages of all four were not immediately known.

Paramedics were called to the crash about a quarter mile north of Route 176 just after 4 p.m.

The car, a four-door sedan, had veered off the road, struck a ditch and flipped over, Gaines said.

The Marengo Police Department continues to investigate the accident.
