Eight injured in South Barrington crash

A multivehicle crash sent eight people to area hospitals Sunday afternoon, authorities said.

The first arriving companies found three cars involved in a serious collision near Barrington and Algonquin roads about 1:40 p.m., the Barrington Countryside Fire Department said in a news release. The most seriously injured was taken to a level-one trauma center.

Three patients went to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge; two to Advocate Good Shepherd Hospital in Barrington; and three to St. Alexius Medical Center in Hoffman Estates.

An EMS box alarm was called to bring more manpower, equipment and ambulances. In all, 13 fire departments responded to the crash.

By about 3:12 p.m., the area was turned over to South Barrington police.
