Two Cougars pitchers combine on no-hitter

One day shy of exactly three years since the last Kane County Cougars' no-hitter, Tyler Skulina and Nathan Dorris combined to stop the Quad Cities River Bandits without a hit in a 3-0 win Saturday night before 7,114 at Fifth Third Bank Ballpark in Geneva.

The Cougars' Sugar Ray Marimon and Chas Byrne tossed a no-hitter on May 18, 2011, against the Kernels in Cedar Rapids.

The Cougars took the lead in the first inning when Carlos Penalver singled home Jake Hannemann, who had walked. In the fifth, Trey Martin scored on a throwing error and Hannemann had a sacrifice fly that drove home Shawon Dunston Jr. for a 3-0 lead.

Skulina left with one out in the eighth and Dorris retired five straight Bandits to complete the gem.
