Cyclists from throughout the region will peddle along scenic routes in Fox River Grove Sunday for the PSIMET Fox River Grove Criterium.
The USA Cycling-sanctioned series of races will begin at 10 a.m. and last until 4 p.m.
The racecourse runs on a loop along Ski Hill Road from Norge Parkway to Violet Avenue, Violet Avenue to Pleasant Street, Pleasant Street to Barberry Trail, and Barberry Trail to Norge Parkway.
For the safety of cyclists and residents, no parking will be allowed on streets along the course from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Residents who live along the course are requested to leave their cars in garages or driveways, and wait to move them until the 10-minute periods between races, or park cars outside the area. When moving cars between races, residents must follow a race marshal's instructions, drive slowly in a counterclockwise direction of the races, and watch for cyclists surveying the course. A short air horn blast means a race has started, and two long air horn blasts signal each race's end.
Fox River Grove police officers and volunteers will be stationed on all corners along the course to help residents entering and leaving the area between races. Emergency vehicles will have access to all locations within the course. Straw bales will be temporarily placed on mailboxes, light poles, and hydrants along the course for cyclists' safety.
Residents can watch the races from their yards or from the grandstand at Ski Hill Road where local businesses will have booths.
