Carpentersville

• A 16-year-old boy was pistol whipped by a man Thursday who was trying to steal his iPhone in the 0 to 99 block of Oxford Drive, police said. The suspect, a black man in a red NorthFace hoodie and dark pants, asked the boy if he had change for a $20 bill. When the boy said no, the suspect pointed the gun at the boy and demanded his phone, Cmdr. Erman Blevins said. The boy refused to hand it over, walked away and the suspect attacked him from behind, Blevins said. The boy was treated on the scene and released.
