Geneva 6, Elgin 5: The Maroons were up 5-3 going into the bottom of the seventh but couldn't hold on in an Upstate Eight River loss. Tom Sobeski was 3-for-3 with a double and an RBI for Elgin (8-17, 5-16), while Matt Karinski had a triple and losing pitcher Kiko Mari doubled.
Cary-Grove 8, Wauconda 0: Jimmy Perkins went 3-for-3 with a double, a triple and an RBI and five Cary-Grove pitchers combined for a 1-hitter in this nonconference win. Rob Johnson had 2 hits including a double and Andrew Splitt added 2 hits for the Trojans (18-9). Nick Franz was credited with the pitching win.
