McKenzie Sancken socked a 2-run homer in the top of the seventh inning, lifting Grant's softball team to a 2-0 win over Lakes in North Suburban Prairie Division play Wednesday.
Caitlyn Moran pitched a 3-hitter, striking out seven for Grant (15-8, 7-3). Deanna Rodriguez went 2-for-3 for the Bulldogs.
Taylor Dishinger suffered the loss, as Lakes fell to 6-3 in the division. Jen Reed had a double.
Lake Zurich 14, Warren 3: Freshman Amanda Guercio hit her eighth home run of the season, Maria Schroeder went 3-for-5, and the visiting Bears captured the North Suburban Lake contest for their 20th win.
Lake Zurich (20-4, 8-2) is in first place in the division. Libertyville and Warren each has 3 losses in the NSC Lake. Lake Zurich finishes up its suspended game from Monday against Stevenson on Friday (the Bears lead 10-5 in the top of the fifth) and hosts Mundelein next Tuesday.
Lake Zurich got 2 hits apiece from Vivian Juarez (RBI), Maddie Minneci, McKenna Larson (double, RBI) and Mallory Parsons (2 RBI). Guercio had 3 RBI, and Olivia Schneider pitched all 6 innings for the win, surrendering 1 earned run while striking out seven and walking two.
Wauconda 8, Stevenson 1: Taylor McCarthy's 3-run inside-the-park homer highlighted a 5-run fourth inning for the visiting Bulldogs in the North Suburban crossover.
Kayla Wedl went the distance in the circle for Wauconda (22-7), striking out nine and walking two. Three of the four hits she allowed went for extra bases, as Stevenson (16-14) got doubles from Taylor Koenigs and Kat Trotter and a triple from Dana Morgan.
Paige Motley and Lauren Nee both went 2-for-3 with a triple for Wauconda. Angie Exline and Savannah Mitchell doubled. Exline and Lauren Carney were both 2-for-4.
Antioch 15, Round Lake 4: Ashley Stephens went 3-for-4 for the host Sequoits in the North Suburban Prairie game.
Antioch (12-12, 6-4) received 2 hits apiece from Hannah Skoog (RBI), Jessica Pedersen (triple, 2 RBI), Taylor Schiltz (2 RBI), Jillian Foote (double, RBI) and Alyssa Dragin (double, 2 RBI). Madeline Hart had a triple.
Round Lake's Kristin Pierce homered, tripled and drove in 3 runs.
