Cougars fall 6-1 to Beloit Snappers

BELOIT, Wis. - When the Kane County Cougars connected on back-to-back doubles in the second inning, it looked like another big offensive day for the team with the best record in the Midwest League.

Instead, Beloit's pitching staff buckled down and allowed just one more base hit en route to a 6-1 victory Monday at Pohlman Field.

The Snappers (14-22) will meet the Cougars (26-11) again Tuesday night at Pohlman Field.

Jacob Rogers scored Kane County's lone run after a double by Will Remillard. Cougars pitcher Tyler Skulina was efficient through his first three innings, but couldn't escape the fourth as Beloit took a 3-1 lead on a two-out double.

After Snappers starter Bobby Wahl worked three innings, the Cougars hardly touched the relievers.

For Beloit, B.J. Boyd's two-run home run in the seventh finished the scoring, with all six runs coming with two outs.
