Annual Vidalia Onion Sale at The Peoples' Bank May 16-18

An annual rite of spring returns to Arlington Heights as the Northwest Suburban Shrine Club's annual Vidalia Onion Sale will take place at The Peoples' Bank of Arlington Heights on May 16, 17 and 18. The bank's 1104 South Arlington Heights Road location was once the site of the Shrine Club's local chapter but since the bank purchased the property and built a facility there, they have welcomed the club back each spring to sell the fresh bags of onions.

The annual tradition involves onions begin plucked from the Georgia soil, placed on trucks, and driven directly to the sale location. Customers can purchase a ten pound bag for $11 or two for $20. Shrine Club members will be set up in the bank parking lot from 9:00 until 4:00 each day or until supplies are gone.

"We are ready to welcome the Shrine Club back to their home location at 1104 South Arlington Heights Road," said bank President Frank Appleby. "Our customers and neighbors look forward to buying these fresh onions every year and we're pleased to share our space with the Northwest Shrine Club."

Proceeds from the sales benefit the Northwest Suburban Shrine Club's many philanthropic efforts.
