The father and daughter were killed in a Florida small plane crash.It is difficult to shoot tender moments like this because of the sensitive nature of the event so I try to be as low key as I can be. I try to use natural light and to push the camera to 3200 ISO and let the candle light set the tone of the picture. This photo was published in the Perspective column in the print edtion.

  • Twenty juniors and seniors representing 10 high schools across Illinois competed in the Ford/AAA Student Auto Skills competition at Universal Technical Institute in Lisle on Friday. The students had 90 minutes to correctly identify and repair intentionally installed "bugs" in identical 2014 Ford Fiestas. After properly diagnosing and repairing the vehicle, teammates must drive the car across the finish line for judging. The winning teams are eligible for scholarships and prizes and will represent Illinois in the national finals in June.
