'Build a birdhouse' in Hoffman Estates

Children are invited to "Build a Birdhouse," in an event sponsored by the village of Hoffman Estates Sustainability Commission, from 9 to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 31, at the Susan H. Kenley-Rupnow Public Works Center, 2305 Pembroke Ave.

A speaker will present bird nesting information, and commission members will assist children with birdhouse construction. The event is free and open to the public.

Materials will be provided by the commission, but please bring a battery-operated screwdriver with a Phillips-head bit, or a medium Phillips-head screwdriver. Participation is limited to 35 children.

Reservations are limited to Hoffman Estates residents through May 27. After that, if space permits, reservations will be open to children from other communities. To register, call (847) 490-6800.
