Hersey wins at Glenbrook North
Hersey's boys volleyball team excelled in tournament play at Glenbrook North over the weekend, topping Barrington in the semifinals and then knocking off Niles West in the championship matchup to win the tournament.
Hersey also beat Evanston 25-22, 25-20 to earn the semifinal spot against Barrington.
The Huskies topped the Broncos in a likely preview of the Mid-Suburban League championship match 25-10, 22-25, 25-20.
And against Niles West, Hersey prevailed 20-25, 25-22, 25-23.
Cumulative leaders for Hersey (23-5) in five tournament matches included Bart Migus (46 kills), Mike Fuerst (36 kills, 20 blocks), Matt Torvik (34 kills, 78 assists), Peter Wesolowski (54-for-56 serving, 2 aces, 73 assists) and Fotis Christacos (85 digs).
