Bloomingdale apartment fire displaces three families

No one was injured but three Bloomingdale families were displaced Friday afternoon when fire swept through the rear of their Stratford Trails apartment building.

Fire Chief Jeff Janus said he did not yet know what triggered the blaze at the three-story building at 152 Gladstone Drive, but it started outside a first-floor utility closet in the rear of the building and spread quickly up to the second-floor deck.

Crews from Carol Stream, Roselle and Addison assisted with the call that came in at 1:26 p.m. Firefighters were on the scene for more than two hours.

No damage estimates were available.
