S. Elgin High team takes 6th at state journalism contest

South Elgin High School students earned sixth in state as a team at the Illinois High School Association's State Journalism Contest on May 2 at Eastern Illinois University in Charleston.

Three students earned medals, including Rachel Christie who took first in state for copy editing, Elizabeth Reiter who took second in state for news writing, and Kayla Brown who earned second in state for yearbook copy writing.

Students from more than 70 schools across Illinois competed.
